With the significant increase in life expectancy, the epidemiology of cancer has suffered dramatic changes, becoming a very important global public health problem. In the context of the Chile-Sweden academic collaboration- ACCESS platform-the cancer group is focused on the development of a multilevel approach, related to cancer problems of the modern society by strengthen disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration. Therefore the working group will explore diverse research areas and approaches to face cancer issues, going from an individual or patient orientated basis, to disciplines that can be considered instrumental for public policy design.

The main areas of collaboration include: Comparative epidemiology between Chile-Sweden; high throughput platforms; immunotherapy (cell-based, DNA vaccines, etc.); clinical trials; therapy response-related biomarkers; new therapeutic targets and genetic and environmental factors.
